Gradual development of Lawahii After Being Disturbed
Several centuries after the primary succession of the Island of Lawahii a fire burst throughout the entire island killing the vegetation and animals that once thrived there. (Stage 1)The ony thing left behind was the soil.(Stage 2) Annual plants gradually began to grow and perennial plants and grasses soon followed. (Stage 3)Shrubs began to grow and eventually (Stage 4) so did trees. Secondary succession is much more rapid than primary succession since in secondary succession the soil is already present.
